Contentpolicy

1. What share links are for

Share links exist so people can hand files to the people they choose. Most of what Interlinked hosts is somebody's work in progress, sent to a colleague or a client. This page is about the small number of things that may not be sent through it.

2. What may not be shared

Share links may not be used to distribute:

  • content that infringes someone else's copyright or trademark
  • malware, or anything designed to compromise devices or accounts
  • content that is illegal to distribute, or that depicts the abuse of children
  • other people's private information published to harass them

This list is deliberately short. It is not a content-taste policy: we are not in the business of judging what your work is about, and we do not read what you host in order to look for reasons to remove it.

3. Reporting a link

Every shared page carries a “Report this link” link in its footer, which is the fastest route. Reports are reviewed by a person. A link that violates this policy is paused: it stops serving and answers 404, nothing is deleted, and the person who published it is told why and has 14 days to dispute.

Taking a link down stops it serving. It does not touch the owner's files on their own machine, which is where the authoritative copy of their work lives.

4. Copyright notices

Formal copyright notices, including notices under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, go to our designated agent. The address and the statements a notice has to contain are on the legal notices page. Counter-notices go to the same address.

5. Where this sits

This policy is part of the Terms of Service, which cover hosted content in Section 7. The Privacy Policy describes what happens to files you publish and the narrow circumstances in which anyone at Interlinked can access them.
