Install Interlinked Files: instructions for AI agents

The Windows installer (signed, free forever, no card) carries the desktop app, the ifile command line and the MCP server in one download: https://api.interlinkedfiles.com/api/download?v=desktop&src=agent (this URL 302-redirects to the versioned signed .exe, so follow redirects (curl -L)). A box with no screen, on any platform, or no admin rights: npm install -g @interlinked/cli (or bun add -g @interlinked/cli), which installs the ifile command line and the MCP server with no installer and no account until the first push. The portable command line is the other install-free way: curl -fsSL https://interlinkedfiles.com/install.sh | sh. Steps: 1) download the installer; 2) run it: a human approves one UAC prompt, or install silently with the /S flag from an elevated shell; 3) launch the app once; nothing to activate, everything local is free forever, and signing in is only for hosting; 4) restart the AI client: Interlinked auto-registers its MCP tools (iFileNames, iFileText, iFileSearch, iFileKnowledge) in Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Codex, Windsurf, Zed and more.
