# Interlinked Files pricing

Interlinked Files hosts and shares projects: one folder of work in progress, any file type and any size, with every save kept and one link that always shows the latest. Teammates and clients open it with nothing installed. The desktop app, the CLI and the MCP server are free on every machine.

Hosting is the only thing that costs money. Everything else is free on every
machine you own.

## The rate card

Opening a public link needs no account. Hosting needs an account with a confirmed
email address; with one, hosting is free inside these numbers.

| | Free, confirmed address | $5.99 a month |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Hosted projects | limited | unlimited |
| Storage | 30GB | 100GB, then $5.99 per further 100GB |
| Transfer a month, up and down | 100GB | 100GB, then $5.99 per further 100GB |
| Writers and readers | unlimited | unlimited |
| Removed when nobody touches it | after 12 idle months | never |
| Single sign-on and SCIM (Okta, Entra, Google) | included | included |

Storage is measured on the largest reading taken during the month and rounded up
to whole 100GB blocks, so the bill can be worked out in advance. Identical
content is stored once, so version history of code and documents costs almost
nothing. Only changed data moves, so a 1MB edit inside a huge project costs
about 1MB of transfer.

## The same on both plans

- **Version control** (included, on both plans). Full file history: every save kept, with branches and merges.
- **Superposition** (included, on both plans). Two saves of one file keep both versions. Nobody waits, and anyone picks one later.
- **Download on Demand** (included, on both plans). The next generation of a virtual file system (VFS): you choose the folders and files to take and they are fetched ahead of time, instead of being pulled in one by one while you work.
- **Large files** (no cap on a file, on both plans). Any file type, with no cap on a file's size. Built for game, film, CAD and Unreal Engine projects.
- **Chunking and deduplication** (included, on both plans). Only the changed pieces of a file upload, and identical data is stored once.
- **Writers and readers** (unlimited, on both plans). No seats and no per-user pricing, at any team size.
- **Access control** (included, on both plans). By organization, team and guest, down to the branch, the depth of history, and view-only.
- **Activity log** (included, on both plans). An audit log of who did what, people and AI agents alike.
- **Single sign-on and SCIM** (included, on both plans). Okta, Microsoft Entra and Google, included on every plan.
- **Webhooks and the API** (included, on both plans). Webhooks on the Standard Webhooks format, developed by Svix, the one OpenAI, Anthropic and Google send theirs on, and a REST API.
- **CLI and MCP server** (free, on both plans). For Claude Code, Codex and Cursor, and for build machines.
- **Tags** (included, on both plans). On files and folders, shared live with the whole team.
- **Public links** (no account, on both plans). Anyone opens a shared project in a browser, with no account and nothing to install.
- **Desktop app** (free, on both plans). Windows, macOS and Linux, with whole-machine file search. Free on every machine you own.

## Against the others

Each vendor's own published rate, read 1 October 2026.

Free cloud storage with no card: Perforce None, GitHub 10GB, Unity 25GB, Interlinked 30GB.

Storage per 100GB a month: Unity $14, Perforce $10, GitHub $7, Interlinked $5.99.

## Why it costs less and does more

### Built on Lore, by Epic Games

Lore is the version control engine Epic Games open-sourced in June 2026, written by the team behind Unreal Engine and run for years inside Fortnite's creator tools. Interlinked hosts it: the engine is theirs, the cloud, the app and the sharing are ours.

### Designed for today's cloud

Perforce dates from 1995 and Git from 2005, before cloud object storage and edge servers existed. Interlinked was built on them from the first day, so there is no server for you to run and no cap on a project's size.

### Only changes move, and data is stored once

Files are cut into chunks. An edit uploads the chunks that changed, and identical data is stored a single time across every version. Anchorpoint measured all of Unreal Engine 5.8: 22 GB stored here, 32 GB in Perforce, 57 GB in Git LFS. Less stored is less billed.

### Two meters, no seats

Perforce, GitHub, Dropbox and Google Drive charge per person. Here the organization pays for two things only, gigabytes stored and gigabytes moved, at the same $5.99 per 100GB, so adding the twentieth person costs nothing.

### Open standards, on every plan

Webhooks follow Standard Webhooks, the format developed by Svix that OpenAI, Anthropic and Google adopted. Agents connect over MCP. Single sign-on and SCIM are included on Free, where others keep them for an enterprise tier.

### Download on Demand, the next generation of VFS

A classic virtual file system (VFS) pulls each file in the moment a program touches it, which stalls work on a slow link. Download on Demand is the step after it: the same partial checkout of a huge project, with the folders you chose fetched ahead of time, so everything you open is already on disk. It also keeps transfer small, because a teammate downloads the folders they work in, not the whole project.

## Free on every rung, paid or not

- The desktop app on every machine you own
- Whole-machine file search, for you and for your agents
- The ifile CLI and the MCP server
- Reading a project somebody shares with you: no account, no install
- Unlimited writers and readers at any team size

## Questions

### What is Interlinked Files?

Hosting and sharing for projects. A project is one folder of work in progress, any file type and any size: every save is kept, one link always shows the latest, and teammates and clients open it with nothing installed. It runs on Lore, the open-source version control Epic Games made for Unreal Editor for Fortnite.

### What is free?

Hosting inside the free allowances, and everything on your own machines. An account with a confirmed email address hosts a limited number of projects, 30GB of storage and 100GB of transfer a month, with no card. The desktop app, the ifile CLI and the MCP server are free on every machine you own, and opening a link someone sends you needs no account at all.

### What does $5.99 a month include?

Unlimited projects, 100GB of storage and 100GB of transfer a month, for the whole organization. Monthly, and you can cancel at any time.

### Is there a charge per person?

No. Anyone can write to a project and anyone can read it, at any team size. A solo developer and a hundred person studio pay for the same two things: storage and transfer.

### Who pays?

The organization. Every account comes with its own organization, every hosted project belongs to exactly one organization, and it pays for all the storage and transfer on its projects, whoever moves the bytes. A second organization hosts nothing until it subscribes. Stripe is the seller of record and sends every receipt and invoice, so teammates never see billing.

### What if we need more than 100GB?

It grows on its own: $5.99 for each further 100GB of storage, and $5.99 for each further 100GB of transfer, with no plan change and no interruption. Storage is billed on the largest hourly reading of the month in whole 100GB blocks, so the bill can be worked out in advance.

### What counts as transfer?

Everything that moves, uploads and downloads together, including downloads from your links. Only what changed moves: edit 1MB of a huge project and about 1MB is sent, and someone who takes one folder downloads that folder, not the project.

### Do old versions cost extra?

Only their changes. Every file is cut into chunks and a save stores only the chunks that are new, and a chunk that already exists anywhere in your organization is never stored twice. So a hundred versions of a project, or a second project built on the same assets, cost little more than the first.

### Do the people I share with need anything?

No. A link or a QR code opens the project in any browser, with no account and no install, and they can add files there too. Anyone who works on it every day is better off with the free desktop app.

### What happens when a free account reaches its limits?

Nothing is charged and nothing is deleted. A save that would go past 30GB is refused with the fix named, and past 100GB of transfer your links pause until the month rolls over.

### What happens if I cancel?

Hosting stops: the links stop serving and new saves are refused, and from then on the hosted copies can be deleted. Every project on your own machine stays there, with its history, so you can host it again whenever you like.

### Is anything deleted while I am using it?

No. On the free allowances, a hosted project nobody touches for 12 months (no save, no download, no opened link) is removed after two warnings, and any activity resets the clock. Paid projects are never removed while the subscription runs. Files on your own computer are never touched.

### Does it work offline?

Yes. The desktop app saves versions on your machine, and they sync when you are back online. Only the projects you choose to host ever upload.

### Can my AI agent use it?

Yes. The ifile CLI and the MCP server run the desktop app's own code, so an agent in Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code or Codex can make projects, save versions, push, pull, share links and set who may open them. There is no model and no API key anywhere in the product.

### Is my data encrypted?

In transit and at rest. Hosted files live in Cloudflare R2, which encrypts every object with AES-256. It is not end to end: the service can read what it hosts, which is what lets a link open in a browser and lets identical content be stored once.

### Does it run on Mac and Linux?

Yes. The desktop app, the CLI and the MCP server run on Windows, macOS and Linux, and a link opens in any browser.
